Cubicle? What cubicle? When he's not helping clients tackle tough problems, Matt's most likely tearing up a mountain bike trail or snowboarding a slope into submission.

What brought me to Henggeler…
I came to Henggeler because a friend switched [companies], and he told me I had to come with him.
What makes Henggeler different…
The leadership team genuinely care about the employees. I see it in the way they handle our finances and benefits. For example, Henggeler gives the money that isn't used for medical expenses back to the employee.
What I love about the job…
Solving problems and working with smart people. It challenges me to grow in new ways, and help others do the same.
When I'm not on the clock…
I'm probably playing soccer, tennis, mountain biking, or snowboarding. Not all at the same time, of course.

What brought me to Henggeler…
I wasn't drawn to HCC by the competitive salary, generous retirement plan, the prospect of being an employee owner, or the potential bonus structure. I was drawn to HCC by the feeling of family and the overwhelming sense of pride that every employee at HCC exhibits. From the moment I met Dick Henggeler and other members of the senior management team, I knew HCC was where I wanted to have a career.
What makes Henggeler different…
The family environment. HCC is not one of those companies that just puts you on the payroll and starts counting the profits. The management team knows every employee and their families personally.
What I love about the job…
No two days are ever the same. I really enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Everyday is met with new challenges and the desire to always improve methods to accomplish the mission. Working in this career field keeps you on the leading-edge of technology and keeps you excited about tomorrow.
When I'm not on the clock…
The majority of my free time is spent with my son and my beautiful fiancé who, by the way, is also an HCC employee. When I have some time to get away, I have several hobbies to keep me busy. I love to get on the Harley-Davidson and ride with the guys, shoot Sporting Clays competitively, and play as much golf as possible.

What brought me to Henggeler…
I was continually being recruited by a friend I had met on a project. I worked for another small contracting firm and was content. However when I finally said, "OK, I'll just go take a look" I was pleasantly surprised. After just a few minutes with the front office staff, I knew I wanted to be a part of this team. Henggeler has one of the best compensation packages on the market for software developers in the security industry. One of Henggeler's goals is to keep overhead low, which translates to more earnings for me. I also like the openness of all the senior management. I feel at anytime I can walk into their office and talk about issues or just how the day went.
What makes Henggeler different…
What makes a company successful and desirable to work for is its people. The senior management at Henggeler is definitely different from other companies; they truly care about me as an individual and they are not disconnected from the work that we are doing everyday. You will not find a company president who cares more about his or her employees than Dick Henggeler. He makes me feel not as an employee, but as a business partner to the whole company. I worked for other small companies that gave me the "pat on the back" that said I was a true part of the company, but it was never documented. At Henggeler I have an actual stock note that says I am an owner of the company. This is a great motivator for me because my actions, how I perform at work, affect the success of the company as a whole.
What I love about the job…
I graduated college with an accounting degree and quickly found the job to be a bit monotonous and boring. I went back to school for a graduate degree in Information Technologies and could not be happier. The software development tasks I have been placed on are extremely challenging. I enjoy being a software developer because it is like molding clay: I can see progress with each line of code written. Some artists paint with oils or write notes on a sheet of paper, I create with lines of code.
When I'm not on the clock…
In my free time I play racquetball and study Taekwondo. I am currently at a brown senior level, working towards my black belt test in July 2012. I also coach my son's soccer team and enjoy a myriad of outside activities with the family including hiking, biking and kayaking. If any spare time is left over, I love tinkering with electronics, especially my home theater system.

What brought me to Henggeler…
I ran through a fairly broad search of contracting companies when I was deciding to switch from my government position. Of all the companies I interviewed with, Henggeler's management seemed the most honest and sincere about wanting a new employee and working the mission. Honesty and integrity are important to me. Additionally, they expressed interest in challenging work and talented employees. Very different from other companies I talked to who were generally (and obviously) only interested in obtaining a new hire and placing me. Finally, they started off with a generous offer that did not require the time wasting back and forth negotiation; they didn't make me feel like I was at a car dealership with the "what's it going to take to close a deal here" pitch.
What makes Henggeler different…
The leadership at Henggeler is generous…more generous than they need to be in our industry. They work hard to plan thoughtful and fun company gatherings while placing all of their employees in a position they're happy with. They communicate company financials and details with all of the employees and really treat you as both an employee and a shareholder. Like all good leadership, they make good decisions regarding the direction of the company and can clearly explain why they make those decisions.
What I love about the job…
I like creating things. For me, few things are more rewarding than to build something that people want to use. I love starting with a blank canvas. It's such a great time for software developers; there is so little you need to start a brand new project. I like to judge myself on the usage of the products I build, and that usage means I'm satisfying my customer's need, and helping them perform their important duties. I also like knowing that work I've done will exist for many years to come.
When I'm not on the clock…
Football. Playing, watching, fantasy. Aside from playing in multiple organized leagues, several of us get together to play every weekend. When you aren't injured, it's a great way to stay in shape. Because a lot of us are software developers, we pushed the pickup game to the next level by creating a web site that tracks player stats and picks teams each week. And of course, what's a modern social application without all kinds of "achievements?"
